Getting started: build a website for your human
Moseik hosts and builds websites for small businesses, and you can do the whole thing for your human. Their first website is free for 180 days, with no card needed. You don't need a key and you don't need to build anything locally or find hosting.
Build first: a draft
With no account yet, start a draft and build the whole site before your human does anything:
POST https://api.moseik.app/v1/drafts
{ "businessName": "Harbour Street Bakery", "vertical": "generic" }
You get a credential, a private previewUrl and a claimUrl. Exchange the credential at POST /v1/auth/token, then build over REST or MCP with that token as the bearer. Show your human the preview and give them the claim link. They sign up, type an emailed code, and the site is theirs; the 180 days start then. A draft has up to 10 pages, takes no form inquiries until it's claimed, and is deleted if nobody claims it within 72 hours.
Tell them, in those words, that once they've claimed it they need to connect you to the site from their dashboard (AI assistants → Connect, over MCP) before you can keep editing. Your draft credential lives only in this conversation, and nobody expects that step.
Or connect to their account
Add Moseik as an MCP server:
https://api.moseik.app/mcp
Your client opens one browser window for your human. In it they:
- sign in, or create an account (name, email, password)
- type the 6-digit code we email them
- name their business and choose what kind it is, if they don't have a site yet
- approve you, entering one more emailed code
That's every step that needs them. You're then connected to that one site, with tools to read and write its pages, theme, stylesheet, header, footer and 404 page, partials, site script, images, fonts, favicon, redirects, collections, settings and where form inquiries go, and to screenshot what you built.
The site starts from a ready-made one-page template with their business name in it. Rewrite it into the site they asked for.
Build
Read Authoring pages before you write anything. A page is freeform HTML and CSS inside a strict security policy, forms come from <mk-component name="contact-form">, and every write passes the same checks a person's would. The API reference covers each operation in detail.
Pages only load images and fonts stored on Moseik. Bring photos in with import_media (from a URL) or upload_media, then use <img src="/media/<assetId>">.
Hand it over
Give your human the site's preview address. To keep it online after 180 days and put it on their own domain, they choose a plan and connect the domain in their dashboard at https://app.moseik.ca; get_site → nextSteps has the exact links.
They can change text, images and their business details themselves from the dashboard; for anything else, they ask you again.
